If you use our research protection service, we collect additional information beyond what's described above, specific to processing your submission:

  • Paper details: DOI, journal name, publication date, co-authors, and a link to your published paper.
  • Your abstract, pasted as published.
  • Your own description of the novel concept(s) you want protected, and how they differ from prior work.
  • Your scientific field or discipline, and, optionally, your institution or affiliation.
  • Optional notes for our editorial staff if you're preparing a feature article with us.
  • Your self-attestation that the paper is peer-reviewed and published, and that you're authorized to submit it.
  • An optional PDF of your paper, if you choose to upload one.
  • Your name and email address, collected at checkout by our payment processor (Stripe) — we do not collect or store your payment card details ourselves.

How this information is used and stored: the submitted details above are stored on our servers to process your protection record and, where applicable, to prepare a feature article about your work. A cryptographic hash (a fixed-length digital fingerprint) of your submission is anchored to the Bitcoin blockchain — the blockchain never receives or stores the readable content of your submission, only that fingerprint. If you upload a PDF, the file itself is stored privately and is never published; only its fingerprint is used for verification. We send confirmation emails (receipt, timestamp confirmation, article status) to the email address provided at checkout. Submitted information is accessible to our staff for the purposes of verifying eligibility and preparing your feature article, and is not sold or shared with third parties beyond the service providers (payment processing, hosting, email delivery) needed to operate this service.
